Certified Copies of Vital Records... Minimize

Certified copies of Vital Records can be obtained from the Borough Clerk's Office between the hours of 9:00am and 3:30pm, Monday through Friday.  Persons requesting records that are not the person on the requested record may be denied or may be asked to show proof relationship.

In order to obtain certified copies of Birth, Marriage, Civil Union, Domestic Partnership, or Death Records the event must have occured in the Borough of East Rutherford.

Records can be obtained by filling out the application and provide identification in one of the following forms...

  1. Valid photo driver's license or valid driver's license without photo and an alternate form of ID with current address.
  2. Two (2) alternate forms of Identification with current address such as vehicle registration, insurance card, voter registration, passport, green card, County ID, school ID, utility bill, bank statement (within the previous 90 days), or tax return from the previous or current year.

Certified Copies are $15.00 each.

Anyone wishing to request copies through the mail can call the Clerk's Office at 201-933-3444 ext.509 and request an application or download the application below and mail it to the Borough Clerk's Office at 1 Everett Place, East Rutherford, NJ 07073.

Voter Registration... Minimize

There is no fee for Voter Registration.  You can download the voter registration form by clicking HERE and return it to the Borough Clerk's Office or mail it directly to the Bergen County Commissioner of Registration at:

Garage Sale Permits... Minimize

Chapter 162 of the Code of the Borough of East Rutherford states occasional sales by a householder or personal property accumulated in the normal use of a dwelling as a residence and no longer needed by the occupants, such as used crockery, kitchen wares, dishes, toys, furniture, costume jewelry, used clothing, used appliances, rugs, drapes and the like, offered for sale in the dwelling, appurtenant garage or other building on the property or appurtenant yards. 

Application must be received by the Borough Clerk as least ten (10) days before the date of the sale with an application fee of $15.00.  The approved permit must be displayed at the time of the sale, visible to the public.

Open Public Records Requests... Minimize

Application for access to Public Records can be made through the Borough Clerk's Office.  All persons requesting records must fill out the application downloadable below.  All requests must be faxed, mailed, or hand delivered to the Clerk's Office at Borough Hall.  E-mailed requests will NOT be accepted.  Copies fees are charged for all requests.

Marriage/Civil Union Licensing... Minimize

Marriage/Civil Union Licenses can be obtained at the Borough Clerk's Office between the hours of 9:00am and 3:30pm, Monday through Friday.  There is a Fee of $28.00 per license.

The following requirements must be met to obtain a Marriage/Civil Union License:

  1. Applicants must not be a party to another civil union or marriage in this State or recognized by this State
  2. One of the applicants must be a resident of East Rutherford.  EXCEPTION:  If neither of the applicants are residents of New Jersey, the application is to be made in a municipality where the ceremony is being performed.
  3. One witness must be present when applying.  The witness must be at least 18 years of age.
  4. Provide Proof of Identity by presenting either a valid passport or valid driver’s license.
  5. Applicants must provide Social Security numbers.
  6. Applicants must provide proof of East Rutherford residency from at least one applicant such as a lease, utility bill, tax bill, or driver's license.
  7. Applicants must provide the Maiden name of both applicants' mothers and birthplace of both applicant' parents.
  8. The fee for the application is $28.00.  Check or EXACT cash.
  9. Applicants must know the date of the ceremony and the name and address of the person who is going to perform the ceremony.
  10. If either party was in a Marriage/Civil Union prior to applying, and it was dissolved legally, the Clerk's Office requests a copy of the final court judgment.  If by death, the Clerk's Office requests a copy of the death certificate.
  11. There is a 3-day waiting period (72 hours) for the Marriage/Civil Union License.
  12. Once the license is picked up, it is only valid for 30 days.
  • NOTE:  If either applicant is under the age of 18, parental consent is needed.
  • NOTE:  If either applicant is under the age of 16, parental consent is needed as well as consent by a Superior Court Judge for Judicial Consent.
  • NOTE:  For a remarriage or reaffirmation of a civil union, the couple must also supply proof of the original ceremony by providing a copy of the original event.

 


Dog Licensing... Minimize

All dogs within the Borough of East Rutherford must be licensed.  A Borough Dog License can be obtained from the Borough Clerk's Office at Borough Hall. You must bring proof of a valid Rabies Shot when applying for license.  As per the State of New Jersey, the rabies shot must be valid through November of the year that you are licensing. 


Dog licenses expire December 31st of each year and MUST be renewed in a timely manner or a summons can be issued.


Fees for Dog Licensing are as follows:


$10.00 for Neutered

$13.00 for Non-Neutered
