Traffic... Minimize

 ALTERNATE SIDE PARKING

The East Rutherford Police Department Traffic Bureau would like to remind our residents about Alternate Side Parking Enforcement.

Alternate Side Parking is enforced all year round. Some residents believe it is only for street sweeper cleaning, which is incorrect.

Alternate Side Parking is used by the East Rutherford Department of Public Works for scheduling tree removal/trimming, snow removal, curb repairs and other maintenance programs.

It also assists The East Rutherford Police Department to observe stolen or abandoned vehicles.

Please make all attempts to move your vehicle on the posted Alternate Side Parking days and times.

Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.

Child Passenger Safety Minimize

The Four Steps to Child Passenger Safety:

  1. INFANT SEATS - designed for children up to 1 year old and, usually 20 pounds in weight. Infant seats are always positioned rear-facing.

  2. FORWARD-FACING SEATS - designed for children between 20 and 40 pounds. Toddler seats are always positioned forward-facing.

  3. BOOSTER SEATS - designed for children between 40 and up to 80 pounds. Booster seats raise a child so the vehicle’s lap and shoulder belts fits properly and allow the knees to bend.

  4. SEAT BELTS - New Jersey law requires drives and adult front seat passengers to wear their seat belts..  Adults should set the proper example and remember that a child is their most precious cargo.
