The Borough of East Rutherford's Recycling Department was established in 1987. The Recycling Department is constantly seeking new forms of recycling in order to benefit the residents of the Borough, as well as the Borough as a whole.
In addition to pursuing new methods of recycling, our department also seeks out funding through grants to supplement the cost of operations and needed equipment. Also included from these funds are biodegradable yard-waste bags, containers for glass and cans collection, and trash containers for Borough properties. Recycling containers and yard waste bags can be picked up by residents at the Public Works facility located at 300 Hackensack Street.
Besides operating for daily collections, our department also manages the Borough's recycling center. This facility is located at 1 Maple Street and is open to EAST RUTHERFORD RESIDENTS ONLY. Residents with RECYCLABLE MATERIALS ONLY may drop materials off Monday through Friday between the hours of 7am and 3pm, Wednesdays until 8pm, and Saturday from 9am until 4pm. When entering the recycling center, residents should stop and speak with one of our staff members before dropping any material. Please refrain from dumping materials outside the gate as this is a violation of a Borough ordinanace and is subject to fine.
