Fire Safety Bureau

Mission Statement

The Bureau of Fire Safety will provide a high level of life safety and property protection for the Community and First Responders through inspection, education and code enforcement.

The Bureau of Fire Safety, under the direction of Fire Marshal Kevin Barnas, is responsible for code enforcement, inspections, education and investigating the cause and origin of all fires that occur with the Borough.

The Bureau of Fire Safety focuses on educating the community about the benefits of proper safety practices, from children’s puppet shows to special concerns of the elderly. The Bureau provides free safety inspections for all residents.

Code enforcement focuses on educating the property owner of the necessary fire prevention measures needed to provide a fire safe community. Code enforcement also allows for the identification of hazards that could be a danger to the Community, Firefighters, Police Officers and Emergency Squad members.

Fire Prevention is the key to saving lives and protecting property. The members of the Bureau of Fire Safety are committed to protecting the lives and property of our residents, First Responders and visitors of our community.

The office is currently staffed with the Fire Marshal, Office Administrator, and four Fire Inspectors. For further information we can be reached at 201-728-9323. You can also email the office at [email protected].
